Joy in Motion: WEEK ONE
Joy in Motion: Wherever You Are... Keep Moving
One of the things I love most about summer is that we're all somewhere.
Some of us stay close to home, while others hit the highway, catch a flight, or venture to the mountains, the lake, or the family farm. Summer naturally encourages us to move—to explore, reconnect, and create lifelong memories.
My summer has already taken me across a few provinces as I make my way back to our family's founding homestead in northern Alberta. Along the way, there have been reunions with family and friends, unexpected adventures, and moments that just make you stop and smile. One day, it's wandering through the Calgary Zoo, where it feels less like you're looking at the animals and more like they've invited you into their world. The next day, it's watching young women from Canada and the U.S. competing in a hockey tournament in one of North America's largest malls, and then standing on the shore near Edmonton watching sailboats dance across white-capped water.
At the same time, I'm on another journey unfolding halfway around the world.
Our friends PL and Kristen have arrived in Africa, preparing for their Pamoja Safari with Cycle 5 to Survive. Before they begin their ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, they are spending time with the incredible team at Hope for Korah in Ethiopia. Watching their updates, one thing is clear: yes, the mountain will be memorable—but it's the people who will transform them. The warmth. The welcome. The joy. The shared purpose.
That's what Joy in Motion is all about.
It's not just about counting kms. It's about discovering that each step, ride, walk, and adventure can be part of something greater than ourselves.
This summer, we're inviting you to help us travel 10,000 kms together while raising $10,000... or maybe even $100,000 for Cycle 5 to Survive and Ally Global. More importantly, we're inviting you to embrace the people, places, and moments God places along your path.
If you're already on the journey with us, we'd love to hear where your summer is taking you. Share a photo, post an update, send us your kilometres, and let’s celebrate with you. I am sharing a few captures of what has happened this week in my life
And if you haven't joined us yet, there's still plenty of room on the trail.
My anthem for this summer is simple:
Never... or Now.
I'm choosing Now. I hope you'll choose it with us. See you next Wednesday...
