Joy in Motion: WEEK SEVEN
SIGNS ALONG THE WAY:
The journey is always richer because of who we travel with. My greatest gifts along the way are my daughter Jesse and my son Travis.
I’m wondering how the past few weeks have gone for you. What has this summer held? Where have you been travelling, and perhaps even more importantly, who have you been travelling with?
We are so encouraged that our little Joy in Motion campaign has already surpassed its original $10,000 goal! Together, we are supporting two remarkable charities that are making the world safer and better for children and families finding their way toward hope, freedom, and a brighter future. I’m wondering how much more we might raise over the next six weeks. And how far will we go to make that happen? We have already passed the 6100 km mark in movement and finding our way.
And speaking of finding our way…
Our family has just returned from Pender Harbour, a place that has offered us rest, renewal, and refreshment over many years. The wonderful family who hosts us opens their beautiful property and gives us space to explore, wander, and discover new paths. Some of the best conversations happen along the way.
Because it isn’t only about where you are travelling. It is about who you are travelling with, what you notice together, and how you choose to roll when the journey does not go according to plan.
Our fabulous week began with a few bumps. I nearly missed the ferry, which is a long story for another day! Then a mix-up with our arrival date meant an unexpected night in Sechelt, where we managed to secure three of the last available motel rooms by the ocean.
What could have felt like a mistake became a special and fun night together. Sometimes the unexpected detour turns out to be part of the gift.
This morning, as I walked around my house, I began noticing some of the little signs that surround me. Each one seemed to remind me of life, movement, and paying attention along the way.
Jeremiah 6:16 says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it.”
Perhaps that is our invitation for next week: stand, look, ask, and walk.
Take a moment to pause and consider: Who are you walking, running, or moving through life with? What are you learning from them? What unexpected detour might hold a hidden gift?
What signs of hope, joy, or God’s faithfulness are you noticing along the way?
Keep moving. Keep looking. And remember to be grateful for the people travelling beside you.
There is still so much joy to be discovered along the way.
